ACTIVITIES OF THE LAW REFORM DEPARTMENT

Law Reform and Research

The law reform and research section is responsible for initiating legislative proposals and activities such as program development and research necessary to formulate recommendations to policy makers for the improvement in existing laws and for the introduction of new laws.

Since the previous annual report, the commission has continued to make progress in law reform work. Most of the projects were initiated in 2003 and handled together with the various stakeholders on the taskforce. A full list of all the taskforce members for the various projects is attached and marked Annex “3”.

The projects fall under two broad JLOS programmes i.e. the Commercial Justice Reform Programme and the Criminal Justice Reform Programme.
